FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Few in Arkansas knew much about Eric Musselman when he was announced four years ago today as the new basketball coach.

It's worked out pretty well for everybody.

Razorbacks athletics director Hunter Yurachek had fired Mike Anderson to try and get the program winning at a tournament-type level.

There's no way to know exactly what everybody expected, but Musselman hit the ground running and it quickly became clear things were going to be dramatically different in a hurry.

Nobody knew the marketing blitz that was about to hit.

What he brought to town was an energy and excitement not seen in a couple of decades. Maybe a little more than that.

The results have been pretty clear.

In just four seasons, the Hogs have been to the NCAA Tournament three times, advancing to a pair of Elite Eight appearances and a Sweet 16 showing this year.

The level of disappointment at "just" making the Sweet 16 may be the biggest thing noticed.

Before, just getting to the field of 64 was cause for a celebration. It was more of a hope than expectations of making a run all the way to the second week of the tournament.

That turned around in a hurry.

He's won just under 70% of his games with the Hogs. He's just under Nolan Richardson in winning percentage by .004%. Eddie Sutton won at a 77.6% clip.

Yeah, Yurachek's call four years ago may be one of the best he'll make as an athletic director.

Fans probably will agree.
