In order for Auburn's offense to perform at the level that Hugh Freeze wants it to be in 2023, the quarterback play is going to need to be elevated.

Freeze joined Crain and Company on Wednesday and was asked to give an update on the quarterback room.

"I don't really know the answer because I haven't coached any of them for a single down," Freeze said. "I have met with them to try to start working on the mental side of this position because there's some growing up that needs to take place in that regard. I don't mean that as a negative I just don't think that they've ever been told, 'Look, this is not acceptable to be the quarterback here. You don't react this way or this way.'"

Regardless of who took snaps at quarterback last year for Auburn, they struggled with remaining consistent. It's easy to see the upside in all of Auburn's quarterbacks. TJ Finley, Robby Ashford, and Holden Geriner all have traits that coaches like to see in a passer. None of them have been able to bring it all together yet.

"I had my guys do some cut-up on the men in our room right now and I can watch a cut-up with all positives and think that we've got something and I can watch the other side of it also and say we've got a lot of work to do," Freeze said.

"I guess my thought process is that if a young man can do it that well 25 times, why can't he do it well a larger percentage of the time?"

Auburn begins Spring practice on February 27th.
