Auburn has landed former Jackson State wide receiver Shane Hooks
Auburn has landed another receiver in the transfer portal as former Jackson State wideout Shane Hooks has chosen to finish his college football career on the Plains.
Coach Freeze loves big receivers, and Hooks fits that build with a six-foot-four 205-pound frame.
Hooks was Coach Deion Sanders and Jackson State's leading receiver in 2022, reeling in 64 passes for 748 yards and ten touchdowns.
Hooks is a player that can come in and immediately compete for a starting spot for the Auburn Tigers.
When it comes to Hooks on the field, he is a versatile wideout that can win 50/50 battles thanks to his giant catch radius.
Hooks made a lot of impressive catches for Jackson State during his take with the Tigers.
Coach Freeze has put together an impressive receiver room thanks to the additions of Hooks, Jyaire Shorter, Caleb Burton, and Nick Mardner.
Hooks is an excellent finish piece to a room that was one a question mark for this football team but could quickly become a strength.
The Auburn Tigers had ten players depart from the program during the spring transfer portal window, including three backup linebackers:
Quarterback TJ Finley
Wide receiver Tar'Varish Dawson
Wide receiver Landen King
Offensive lineman Colby Smith
Defensive lineman Jeffrey M'ba
Defensive lineman Tobechi Okoli
Defensive end Dylan Brooks
Linebacker Kameron Brown
Linebacker Desmond Tisdol
Linebacker Powell Gordon
The addition of Nixon is a big one.
Auburn has pulled in an impressive haul thus far during Hugh Freeze's first season on the Plains, currently sitting at No. 3 nationally in 247Sports' transfer portal class rankings with a total of 18 commitments. Their nine four-star additions through the portal are tied for the most in the country alongside USC.
