Former Auburn Gus Malzahn coach agrees to contract extension with UCF
Former Auburn coach Gus Malzahn has been extended by his new school.
According to Pete Thamel of ESPN, UCF and coach Gus Malzahn have agreed to a contract extension through the 2027 season. Malzahn agreed to terms early this summer and the school raised his salary to $4 million per year on July 1. The deal rises to $5.5 million annually in 2026 and 2027.
Malzahn was hired as the head coach of the UCF Knights in 2021. He finished his first year 9-4 with a win in the Gasparilla Bowl over the Florida Gators.
Last season UCF was ravished by injury but managed to finish 9-5. They lost in the Military Bowl to the Duke Blue Devils.
Malzahn and the Knights are off to a 3-2 start this season, their first in the Big 12 Conference. He finished with a 68-35 during his time at Auburn.
