Halftime is upon us in Baton Rouge as Auburn takes on the LSU Tigers. Has the bye-week helped Auburn to adjust to perform better in SEC play?

Aside from the rest received from the bye-week the Tigers must be eager to finally notch an SEC win in their belts for the 2023 season.

Are they on their way to do so? Here are some takeaways from the first half of play.

- Auburn won the toss and elected to defer until the second half, allowing for LSU to take the opening drive. LSU started off with a bang driving almost the length of the field for an opening drive touchdown.

- The first drive for Auburn looked awful with ample mistakes at the line of scrimmage resulting in a penalty for a false start. The Tigers were forced to a 3 and out and punted the ball away.

- LSU’s running game looks to be firing on all cylinders behind Logan Diggs. The defense seems to be allowing a lot of open run lanes which LSU has been capitalizing on. The Auburn Tigers need to get settled and start making solid decisions.

- Auburn is not putting enough pressure on LSU’s quarterback Jayden Daniels and he is taking advantage of the lack of pressure. They are affording him too much comfort in the pocket.

- Auburn’s redzone defense seems to be working as they held off an LSU touchdown only allowing a field goal capping off an 11-play LSU drive.

- Despite a decent kickoff return by Brian Battie, Auburn was forced to another 3 and out on their second drive. Koy Moore was tripped up on his own feet almost allowing an interception on a deep ball attempt from Payton Thorne.

- Auburn enters the second quarter of play down 17-0.

- Auburn’s third drive was much more effective and put together ending the drive in a touchdown with a direct snap to Jarquez Hunter lined up in the Wildcat formation.

- Eugene Asante comes away with a great sack on Jayden Daniels at the beginning of LSU’s fourth drive.

- Auburn’s defense held up again near the redzone forcing an LSU field goal on their fourth drive.

- Auburn still hasn’t seemed to have addressed the receiving room issues, as they are still having significant difficulties linking up with well thrown passes.

- Late in the 2nd quarter Auburn's D.J. James came down with a pick on Jayden Daniels.

- Auburn will need to make some significant adjustments at the half to be able make this a close game and possibly come away with a win. However, if these adjustments are not made Auburn is in for a long second half against LSU.

Auburn heads into the half trailing LSU by 13 with a score of 20-7.
