Keyonte George stepped into the international spotlight for the Baylor Bears USA team at GLOBL JAM in Toronto, Canada in July. He immediately proved he's ready to be one of the premier freshman guards in the country this season.

The Bears lost 77-73 to Brazil in the Gold Medal Game, as the team finished with a 1-4 record. George averaged 22.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, and three assists, bolstered by an impressive 37-point performance he had against the Canadian team.

The leader of the Canadians was a familiar face for coach Scott Drew. Texas Longhorns guard Marcus Carr told InsideTheBears.com Wednesday following Texas' practice that he sees good things ahead for George in his freshman season.

“We played each other twice," Carr said. "Super talented, super skilled scorer. He’s definitely gonna have a good year, he’s gonna be a problem.”

Despite heading into his fifth year of collegiate eligibility, Carr was out-dueled by his Big 12 counterpart in the two matchups, as George easily won the combined scoring battle 56-26. USA and Canada split the two matchups 1-1.

While the Bears got to have an additional look at Carr, he also got to see some early tendencies from a Baylor roster that looks much different from last season.

"It was summer time for them as well and they also had a couple people out," Carr said. "At the end of the day they're still Baylor, they're playing how they play so it was kind of an easier scout for me and the rest of my teammates up there in Canada just letting them know their tendencies and things like that. I know that they didn't have their team at full strength, but definitely got to see some early tendencies from some of the young guys, so it's gonna be fun playing them again."

The Longhorns and Bears will face each other twice this season, though the official Big 12 conference schedule is yet to be released.
