More than two weeks after his official visit to Baylor, Newton (GA) OL Sean Thompkins committed to the Bears Sunday on his Twitter.

Thompkins had narrowed his list of schools down to four earlier this week, with Baylor being the only one outside of the SEC, having held offers from Kentucky, Florida and Tennessee.

The Georgia product is graded as one of the top at his position in his home state. Thompkins becomes the third 2023 commit for the Bears this weekend alone, and the 18th total commit for the class.

Thompkins stands at 6'4" and weighs in at 331 pounds playing on the interior offensive line, the third 2023 commitment for the Bears on the offensive line. The unit made a dramatic jump for the Bears last season led by OT Connor Galvin, and proved to be a focal point for their offense under Jeff Grimes. As long as Grimes is leading the offense in Waco, the offensive line will be a huge part of any success the Bears enjoy.

Grimes and OL coach Eric Mateos have shown the unit's importance with an emphasis on power running and winning games in the trenches and returns the entire offensive line from 2021.

Thompkins commits to Baylor 16 days after his official visits and with visits to Kentucky and Florida in between. The OL becomes the ninth offensive player to commit to the Bears in this class, giving them an even nine on each side of the ball.

If you're keeping track at home, this recruiting victory goes to Mateos.
