BYU Offers Colorado Transfer WR Montana Lemonious-Craig

The BYU coaching staff has already added 16 transfers to the roster for the 2023 season, and they still have multiple scholarships to use on transfers. Last week, Oregon defensive line transfer Treven Ma'ae and Eastern Michigan transfer Darius Lassiter announced offers from BYU. On Monday, another transfer wide receiver announced an offer from BYU: Colorado transfer Montana Lemonious-Craig. Lemonious-Craig racked up 359 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns last season in a Colorado offense that was one of the worst passing offenses in college football. Lemonious-Craig was a star of the Colorado Spring scrimmage last weekend before he entered the transfer portal. In that game, he totaled 154 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Lemonious-Craig has two seasons of eligibility remaining and he has received competing offers from Auburn, Mississippi State, Cal, Penn State, Cincinnati, and Washington State among others since entering the transfer portal.

Wide receiver is a position of great need. After Spring camp, offensive coordinator Aaron Roderick said BYU was short as many as three or four scholarship wide receivers.

When asked if there was a need to add receivers from the transfer portal, Roderick said, "Yes, but I want to make sure everyone knows that it's not because we're not happy with who we have. Our numbers are down right now, we don't have as many receivers in the room. We actually have three, maybe four scholarships available there that we haven't used yet. I don't think we'll use all of them, but we'll probably use a couple of them to bolster that room with depth."

Behind Kody Epps, Keanu HIll, and Chase Roberts, BYU is untested at wide receiver. Adding Lemonious-Craig would bring more starting-caliber experience and go a long way in securing more depth for 2023.

Stay tuned for more transfer portal updates in the coming weeks.
