Texas LB Eze Osondu Commits to Cal for Class of 2024
Eze Osondu, a three-star linebacker from Trophy Club, Texas, announced on social media on Tuesday that he has committed to Cal.
He is the Golden Bears' fourth commitment for the class of 2024, and two are from Texas. He joins three-star offensive lineman Tyler Knape, three-star tight end Camden Jones and three-star defensive back Brooklyn Cheek as players who have committed to Cal for 2024. Knape is from Austin, Texas.
The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Osondu had been primarily a defensive end at Byron Nelson High School, but he is expected to be an inside linebacker at Cal.
"They see me as an inside backer," he told Bear Territory. "I don't mind playing on the edge and putting my hand in the dirt, but I feel like playing at the 'Mike' linebacker position, it gives me more opportunities to use my ability and be elusive inside. Throughout the spring I worked on my pass defense and dropping back. I really hope I can get my hands on some interceptions this year and take some to the crib."
Osondu also had offers from Arkansas State, Miami-Ohio, Liberty and Colgate, but his only offer from a Power Five conference school came from Cal. He visited Cal in March and decided to pull the trigger now on his choice. He reportedly is scheduled to take an official visit to Cal in late June.
