Weekly NET: Cincinnati Jumps Back Into NCAA Tournament Contention With Win Over UCF
CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati Bearcats are right back on the NCAA Tournament bubble after a Quad 1 road win over UCF on Saturday.
The victory was crucial in Cincinnati's needed path to a 9-9 record in conference play entering the Big 12 tournament. It didn't boost their NET Rating though (dropped from No. 35 to No. 37 over the weekend).
The Bearcats are right on the edge of historical NET ranking locks that make the tournament.
No. 33 is the historical cut-off, as NC State missed the tournament ranked 33rd in 2019, but they played a much easier strength of schedule than Cincinnati and had just three Q1 wins that season (UC already has three with three chances left).
In the past three seasons, No team ranked higher than No. 38 in the NET has missed the cut.
Overall, TeamRankings gives Cincinnati a 56% chance to earn an at-large bid and DraftKings Sportsbook makes Cincinnati a narrow -125 favorite to make the tournament. A Quad 3 win on Wednesday will keep them hovering around these numbers.
