Wes Miller Confirms No NCAA Answer Yet on Jamille Reynolds Transfer Waiver Appeal; Aziz Bandaogo Struggling to Sleep Amidst Situation
CINCINNATI — Wes Miller continued to defend his big fellas that the NCAA has yet to deem eligible this season. The UC men's basketball coach revealed after Sunday's 90-66 win over Northern Kentucky that Jamille Reynolds' waiver appeal has still not been decided on by the NCAA and may not be addressed "until December."
Miller was visibly upset about the situation.
"We have still not heard back from the NCAA about his appeal," Miller said about Reynolds. "We submitted his waiver in August. We submitted his appeal in October. I think it was the last week of October. We are four games in, two weeks in, and he hasn't heard so we call the NCAA. I don't have a contact. I do not know who is the NCAA. They don't talk to me I have no ability to talk to them. But our compliance calls the NCAA. And they said 'Oh yeah, we don't think we'll be able to get to that waiver until December.'"
The wait is tough on both players, particularly Bandaogo's sleep patterns. He told Miller he couldn't rest his eyes at night, given the uncertainty.
"He said 'Coach, I haven't slept since games started," Miller said about his talks with Bandaogo. "He said, 'I wake up every night and I can't go back to sleep.' That kills me."
Cincinnati now prepares for Georgia Tech on Wednesday as they trudge at 4-0 without the two players.
