CINCINNATI β€” New York Jets cornerback Ahmad "Sauce" Gardner may have some inside information on who the next Jets quarterback will be.

The former Bearcat hinted at a new passer last weekend as he played around on Twitter, but there may actually be some substance to that trolling.

"Man I don't know, I woke up trolling that day," Gardner said on Good Morning Football about his QB callouts on Twitter and the possibility of landing Aaron Rodgers. "I can't speak on it too, too much, but you know I know a little something about something. But I ain't gonna say too much."

Gardner was all smiles at the NFL Pro Bowl this past weekend as he gets ready to become the first rookie cornerback this decade to win NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year.

Gardner is a massive favorite to take the title and became the first rookie defensive back since Ronnie Lott in the early 80s to get named an AP All-Pro.

He is the first rookie since Marcus Peters in 2015 to lead the whole league in pass breakups.

"I will probably say the main reason is because, you know, I stepped in and had to play a big role when it came to changing defense as a rookie," Gardner said as to why he should win the award. "Besides the accolades, I could just say, you know, I'm an All-Pro or whatever, but that's not it, it's bigger than that. It's more of a team thing. You know, being able to just go out there with my brothers and just, you know, go out there every Sunday and give it my all, you know, they expected a lot of a lot of me, and I feel like I've lived up to the expectations."
