Ahmad 'Sauce' Gardner Named To AP 2022-23 NFL All-Pro Team
CINCINNATI — Ahmad "Sauce" Gardner put the cherry on top of arguably the greatest rookie season ever from an NFL cornerback.
The Associated Press just named the former Bearcat a first-team All-Pro player.
He is the first Jets corner to earn the honor since Darrelle Revis in 2011 and the only rookie in team history to pull off the feat. No NFL rookie corner in the past 40 years has made the AP's first team.
His three goals before the season were making the Pro Bowl (check), being first-team All-Pro (check), and winning Defensive Rookie of the Year, which he should run away with as a heavy betting favorite.
He led the league with 20 pass breakups and PFF's top coverage grade for ANY NFL player. He's the first rookie since 2015 to notch 20 PBUs while adding 2 interceptions, 3 TFLs, and 75 tackles.
"We are just going to keep growing," Gardner said to Jets.com. "We are going to keep training and we're going to keep ascending and getting better and better."
Gardner has also been a staple on NFL All-Rookie teams from The Athletic, Sports Info Solutions, plus, PFF, and is the top rookie on NFL.com's rookie rankings.
