CINCINNATI — Ahmad "Sauce" Gardner was ranked second behind Patrick Surtain II in ESPN's latest cornerback rankings. They polled executives, coaches and scouts.

Gardner was named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year last season and is a big reason why some experts believe the Jets could make a championship run.

"Combination of ball skills and ability to consistently stay in phase and disrupt timing," an NFC exec told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. "I thought he was excellent [last] year."

Gardner was tied for the NFL lead with 20 passes defensed last season. He finished with 75 tackles, two interceptions and was a Pro Bowler.
