UC Running Back Charles McClelland Declares For 2023 NFL Draft
CINCINNATI — The Bearcats top running back this season is headed into the 2023 NFL Draft.
Charles McClelland announced he's turning pro this week.
"To Bearcats Nation," McClelland wrote. "Thank you for these amazing years. I'll forever be grateful for the privilege to play at the University of Cincinnati. Nothing will ever compare to being in a packed-out Nippert Stadium and hearing 'Pump It Up.' I will truly miss playing in front of the best fans in the country."
The redshirt senior led the Bearcats in rushing yards (849), carries (146), average (5.8 YPC), and TDs (7). It was a nice stamp to a career marred by two major knee surgeries.
McClelland persevered and now he is ready for the next challenge. The consensus big board does not have him ranked among the top 676 NFL prospects this cycle.
Corey Kiner figures to have an open runway to lead back duties next season, along with a mix of Ryan Montgomery if he chooses to use his COVID year.
Myles Montgomery and Stephan Byrd are interesting young pieces as well.
