CINCINNATI — The Bearcats football team recently extended an offer to a current unranked 2026 Quarterback prospect.

Owen Lansu is a 2026 quarterback from Downers Grove North High School in Downers Grove, Illinois. He measures in at 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds according to 247Sports.

“It was a little unexpected, sooner than I expected, but an awesome experience and conversation,” Lansu stated to All Bearcats. “It meant a ton for them to be the first Power Conference school to offer me and it wasn’t just an offer thrown out there, the coaches have a genuine interest in developing me.”

“I spoke to Coach Pete Thomas,” the 2026 Quarterback said diving deeper into the conversation. “We had spoken on the phone a few weeks ago, and it had went really well. He had talked to my head coach and asked to get on the phone. We talked about the off-season, then he offered me and we talked about getting on campus for spring ball and to meet the HC. I talked to coach Veidt as well after the fact.”

Lansu went in-depth on his thoughts on Cincinnati.

“I think that they are a program looking to build their history as a new school in the Big 12, and that’s something that interests me, being able to be a part of something that kind of builds from the ground up.” Lansu had another specific reason as well. “The university being located in a major city as well gives the school a great atmosphere.”

The 2026 prospect believes he could bring a lot to a program like Cincinnati.

“I feel like I’m someone who can be a program leader early, and can motivate people to work harder and buy in 100%,” Lansu stated. “I will put in the work and do what the coaches ask me to do to become the best person I can be for the program I decide to play at, so if that’s Cincinnati, they will get 110% out of me.”

He has also mentioned that he will be coming on a visit during spring ball but the date has yet to be set.
