Cincinnati Bearcats Hosting Four-Star Defensive End Mario Eugenio This Month
The Bearcats have one four-star recruit committed from the 2022 class, and they have another one visiting when the SMU Mustangs roll into Nippert Stadium later this month.
Defensive end Mario Eugenio is taking an official visit to Cincinnati after reopening his recruitment in October.
The 220th-ranked recruit in the ESPN 300 had committed to play for Michigan and Jim Harbaugh, but that changed last month.
"After a long conversation with my family I have decided to decommit from the University of Michigan," Eugenio Tweeted on Oct. 7. "I thank @CoachRyanOsborn @MikeMacUM @CoachJim4UM @CoachNua for recruiting me."
The Gaither High School standout would be a massive boon to Luke Fickell's pass rushes over the next few years. ESPN slotted him with an 82 overall prospect grade and a four-star designation. The edge maven checks in at 6-foot-4, 240 pounds, and is the 20th best defensive end nationally in ESPN's rankings.
Eugenio amassed a strong senior campaign to justify his busy recruiting schedule. In 2021, the senior has 32 tackles (15 for loss), and eight sacks. Across his three seasons of varsity playing time, Eugenio's posted 120 tackles (53 for loss), 38 sacks, and four interceptions.
Cincinnati currently has the AAC's top-rated class in 2022 according to 247Sports. They rank 35th nationally after placing 45th in the country this year. Fickell has proven he can squeeze the most out of each class, and the talent all over the country is taking notice.
Eugenio also has a standing offer from the Oregon State Beavers. The UC staff will do its best to prove Cincinnati can be a lot more fruitful than Corvallis.
