How the Dylan Raiola move impacts Clemson recruiting
If you missed it, perhaps the most significant recruiting news of the day wasn't a commitment, but rather a move. News broke on Wednesday that 5-star quarterback Dylan Raiola, the No. 1 player in the country and a Georgia commit, is moving from Arizona to Georgia for his senior year of high school football.
Raiola had already transferred from one Arizona high school to another in the offseason and was facing a 5-game suspension due to the in-state transfer. Facing losing half of Dylan's senior season, the Raiolas elected to go ahead and move to Georgia. Per the reports, Raiola will play for Georgia high school football juggernaut Buford.
So how does a prospect committed to Georgia making a cross-country move affect Clemson recruiting? Well, it's all about where he'll be playing. At Buford, Raiola will be teamed up with some of Clemson's top targets remaining in the 2024 class. Both 5-star safety KJ Bolden and 5-star defensive lineman Eddrick Houston play their high school ball at Buford.
Per On3, Bolden is a heavy Georgia lean and Houston is projected to Ohio State but Clemson is in the mix for both. Now Georgia basically has a recruiter in the Buford locker room every day.
Another scary thought for Clemson fans: Jefferson high school is just 27 miles down the road from Buford. Clemson's top-commit Sammy Brown plays his high school ball at Jefferson. We've already seen Raiola make a strong push to team up with Brown. Now he'll have plenty of opportunities to continue his pitch.
