Coach Prime tells Shilo Sanders to 'cut it off' like Ronnie Lott before pinky surgery
Deion Sanders knows that laughter is the best medicine. While the Colorado Buffaloes were out on the practice field working on conditioning drills, Shilo Sanders was having surgery done to correct an injury to his pinky. Coach Prime was on a facetime call with his middle son Thursday as he was in the hospital prepping for the operation. He did what any good father would and tried to keep him in good spirits.
"Son, don't try to get out of everything else for a pinky," Sanders said via Reach the People Media. " Pinkies don't ever count, Dawg."
Prime took it further and referenced another Pro Football Hall-of-Famer. "Why don't you do like Ronnie Lott and cut the tip off, like a real safety," Sanders asked.

Lott was dealing with a broken pinkie finger before the 1986 NFL season and decided to have it amputated to not miss any playing time. The act was heroic to some and extreme to others. The football legend won four Super Bowls with the San Francisco 49ers and two of them back-to-back after losing the digit.
Sanders said the injury happened during a game last season. It was a career year for the Buffs defensive back with 54 tackes, four forced fumbles, three PDUs, and a pick-six in the Rocky Mountain Showdown vs. CSU. He'll bring much-needed experience to CU's secondary as a sixth-year senior.
It's nothing but a bump in the road for Sanders, who recently returned home from participating in the 2024 Louis Vuitton Men's Fall-Winter Collection Show in Paris. The Sanders brothers trio made the best of representing CU on the world stage. Shilo also got to hang out with America's best mayor at Loveland Ski Area prior to the trip overseas.
