Deion Sanders wants better from his players. This has been a staple of Coach Prime's theory going back to his days way before Jackson State. It's also the reason why he called out former five-star Cormani McClain in the past two weeks.

Sanders gave a list of fundamental things his freshman talent was lacking at his press conference on Tuesday. It's no secret he's unhappy with his top recruit, which sparked a response from McClain via Instagram.

"You'll be surprised what happens behind close(d) doors," McClain wrote."(Everything) ain't just what is seem(s)... But pushing thru politic(s) everyday (is) the only way out!"

McClain saw the field against Oregon after the Buffs were down by double-digits in the second half. It was the first time appearance by the former top recruit with Travis Hunter sidelined due to a lacerated liver.

Sanders got McClain as the highest-ranked player in CU's 2023 recruiting class. He originally committed to Miami, but wanted to follow in Prime's footsteps as a "generational talent." McClain is also listed a top ten all-time defensive back from Lakeland HS in Florida, but might be looking elsewhere by the tone of his comments.

CU's coaching staff is said to be working to develop McClain and might be part of the "corner-by-committee" scenario while Hunter recovers. The Buffs might also be missing Shilo Sanders in the secondary after he was taken to the hospital after the loss to Oregon.

McClain has the potential be a shutdown defender. He had 58 tackles (3 for loss), 15 interceptions, 17 PDUs and three forced fumbles over the last two years at Lakeland.
