Deion Sanders says it's time to move on and "take one" after bye week

Coach Prime needs Buffaloes to be fully-committed in the final month of the season

Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders kept it real with his players during the final practice before the bye week. He knows the task at hand in the final five games and what his team must do to keep their postseason hopes alive.

"I'm proud of y'all," Sanders said via Well Off Media. "I'm proud of what we've accomplished thus far. We feel like we should be much better. I know you feel like we should be further down the road. I know you do, and I do as well. We know the task at hand. If we give up one we're supposed to win, it means we have got to take one they think we're not going to win. We just take one, and we'll be right back where we need to be."

Sanders has already accomplished more than oddsmakers figured he would in his first year at Colorado. While the loss to Stanford was unexpected, and a meltdown with the way it ended was historically bad, the Buffs are using the bye week to come back with more discipline. They'll need two wins to reach a bowl, and one, if not both, will have to come against ranked teams.

It's not the primary goal for Sanders and the Buffaloes, but it remains on the list going into Week 8. Coach Prime hopes the extra week to prepare for 25th-ranked UCLA will serve his team well. A good number of players are staying in Boulder over the break. Shedeur Sanders says he'll likely be training down in Houston.

Colorado heads to Pasadena to face UCLA on Oct. 28. It's the one and only time the Buffs are scheduled to be in California this year. It's also the last trip to The Golden State in the foreseeable future, with CU heading to the Big 12 next year.
