Yale forward transfer EJ Jarvis released his top eight schools on Sunday, including the Florida Gators alongside Cal (Berkeley), Georgetown, Georgia Tech, Miami, Northwestern, Notre Dame and VCU.
Todd Golden and Co. quickly contacted the promising four prospect when he hit the open market this spring and remain a contender in his hunt for a new program moving forward.
On3's Joe Tipton reports that Jarvis is keeping the specifics of his recruitment close to vest and currently doesn't have a timeline for his recruitment.
The announcement continues what's been an eventful beginning to the transfer portal cycle for the Gators, who have been linked to several top targets. Notably, former Wofford forward BJ Mack recently named UF to his own list of top contenders.
On Saturday, the Gators hosted Iona guard transfer and Lake Wales, Fla., native Walter Clayton Jr. on campus for a visit, looking to secure one of the nation's top point guard transfers to bolster the starting backcourt.
Currently, Clayton sits on the top of the priority list for Florida's transfer portal recruitment efforts. Just behind him is Jarvis, who presents the length — at 6-foot-8, 220 pounds — scoring prowess and rim protection abilities from his four-spot to aid the unit on both ends of the floor next season.
In 2022, the Yale forward produced 11.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game for the Bulldogs in 22.2 minutes per game. He shot 55% from the field and 40.6% from three, showcasing the stretch four prowess the UF staff covets when targeting frontcourt pieces.
His inclusion of the Gators in his top list of schools comes just four days after a member(s) of Florida's staff reportedly traveled to Washington, D.C., for an in-home visit, according to 247Sports.
Golden is attempting to replenish the roster after eight players from the 2022-23 roster depart from the program this offseason after his inaugural year as head coach.
Graduate seniors Kyle Lofton, Myreon Jones and Colin Castleton leave after exhausting their final season of eligibility. Transfer portal entrants Kowacie Reeves Jr., Niels Lane, Jason Jitoboh, CJ Felder and Trey Bonham follow the trio out of Gainesville.
Florida has yet to land a commitment via the transfer portal this cycle, but not due to the lack of trying.
