Florida State Basketball Transfer Finds New Home With Big 12 Program

The former Seminole has found a transfer destination after moving on from Florida State in April.

Former Florida State guard Jeremiah Bembry has found a new home at West Virginia, announcing his commitment on Instagram. The redshirt freshman never appeared for the Seminoles last season after battling a couple of different injuries before and during the season. FSU needed guys available to play and decided to move in a different direction this offseason.

The 6’6” guard out of Allentown, PA was a three-star recruit and has the size that a lot of team covet for a point guard, he just needs to add weight and stay healthy. I was a big fan of his tape coming out of high school, he just couldn’t get over all of the injuries, unfortunately.

He’ll be joining a West Virginia team that is under a lot of turmoil as things stand. Longtime head coach Bob Huggins was dismissed/“resigned” recently following an off-season that saw him get a second DUI charge and slandering Xavier University with anti-gay slurs in a radio interview. Just this weekend he stated he never submitted a “formal resignation”, saying his wife was the one that submitted it, and wants to be reinstated once he’s completed his rehabilitation program following his DUI arrest.

West Virginia University wants no part and has adamantly denied his reinstatement so far, and will take it to court if necessary. Interim coach Josh Eilert is put in an impossible situation right now, as a few high-level players have transferred since Huggins “left.”

As for on the court, Bembry is expected to back up Kerr Kriisa this season, a dynamic guard who averaged 9.9 PPG and 5.1 APG for the Arizona Wildcats last year, while shooting a high percentage from 3. If he can stay healthy he should be a good get for the program.
