The Miami Dolphins secondary will soon get a valuable boost as former Florida State cornerback Jalen Ramsey returned to practice on Wednesday following a knee injury he suffered early on in preseason camp.

Ramsey, a six-time Pro Bowler, and Super Bowl Champion, was a part of a much-anticipated trade by the LA Rams to the Dolphins during the off-season. However, the excitement and anticipation around his arrival were cut short when it became clear that he would be out of action for an extended period before making his return.

Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel on Wednesday confirmed an earlier report to the media of Ramsey being back in action this week.

"We will start Jalen's window today and it's a testament to him that we're doing that," McDaniel said regarding Ramsey. "We're excited to have him back."

The window he is referring to is a 21-day period in which the Dolphins will need to add Ramsey back to the 53-man active roster.  McDaniel added that Ramsey will not participate in this Sunday's matchup against Philadelphia but that they are excited to have him back.

"We will have to rule him out for Philly," McDaniel said. "But we're excited to have him back."

Although beating his recovery timeline, there are still question marks on when he will be a full go. McDaniel said they haven't yet set a timeline for his return.

"This is the first time that he’s going to be playing football, so we’ll acquire information, but very optimistic that it will be sooner than later.”

During his time at Florida State Ramsey won a National Championship while also becoming a dual sport All-American in Track and Football. He was drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2016.
