FSU Star Jared Verse Projected As No. 1 Overall Pick In 2024 NFL Draft

Verse's return to Tallahassee could end up putting more money in his pocket next year.

Defensive end Jared Verse exploded onto the FBS scene when he transferred from Albany in 2022. The former Great Dane turned his collar in for a tomahawk, signing with the Florida State Seminoles after a prestigious two-year campaign that earned him FCS Freshman All-American and First Team All-Conference recognition.

The 6'4", 253-pound edge rusher has elevated his game, and himself, into a projected first-round NFL Draft selection, potentially in the top-5, which would mark the first Seminole to go that early since defensive back Jalen Ramsey went No. 5 overall in 2016.

ESPN's Draft Analyst Jordan Reid has tagged Verse as the No. 5 selection next year to the Los Angeles Rams, while Pro Football Network's Cam Mellor has him going No. 1 overall to the Arizona Cardinals.

Verse has demonstrated his skillset on numerous stages, and it comes as no surprise when he's around. 'Vigorous' could be a word used to describe him but 'tenacious' would hit the nail on the head. Last season, he played in 12 games recording 48 tackles, 17 for a loss, and nine sacks, placing him on the First Team All-ACC squad and as First Team All-American.

Standing out as the only player in the ACC and one of two Power 5 defenders nationally to achieve four games with 2.5 tackles for loss in 2022, his average of 0.75 sacks per game topped the ACC and ranked 17th nationally. Moreover, he ranked second in the ACC and 10th nationally with an average of 1.4 tackles for loss per game.

Paired with ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year Patrick Payton, defensive tackle Fabien Lovett Sr, and top transfers Gilber Edmond and Darrell Jackson, the 'Noles will have a formidable pass rush as they set their sights on the upcoming season.
