Dugans, a notable alumnus of FAMU Developmental Research School, was recently honored with induction into the school's inaugural Hall of Fame class. This distinction recognizes individuals who have exemplified excellence and includes esteemed figures such as former principal Mathew Estras, former FAMU head coach Clarence Montgomery, Doris Medlock, and legendary track and football coach Harry Jacobs.

Prior to playing at Florida State, he starred at FAMU DRS in football, basketball, and track. Dugans rushed for 730 yards and ten touchdowns while adding 75 tackles and seven interceptions as a senior. He won two state titles in basketball and three track and field state titles, including two individual triple jump state championships.

He made the short move to FSU after his prep. A standout receiver, he won a BCS Championship during the 1999 season, which marked his final year in college. In the 2000 BCS National Championship Game, he recorded five receptions for 99 yards and two touchdowns.

Dugans has had an illustrious career that included playing and coaching for the Cincinnati Bengals, as well as coaching stints at Louisville (2010-2013), South Florida (2014-2015), Miami (2016-2018), and then returning to his alma mater of Florida State in 2019 where he remains as one of the top receiving coaches in the country.

The veteran assistant played a significant role in recruiting a talented group of wide receivers, including Johnny Wilson, Keon Coleman, Hykeem Williams, Destyn Hill, and numerous other promising players who are preparing for another breakout season.

Florida State had a remarkable season in 2022. The team led the nation with an average of 7.46 plays of 20-plus yards per game, marking the program's highest season average since their 2013 national championship victory. Additionally, the Seminoles ranked third in the country with an explosive play rate of 17.15 percent.

Furthermore, they tied for the national lead with eight touchdown drives of 90-plus yards, showcasing their ability to move the ball effectively. Additionally, their 16 touchdown drives of 80-plus yards were the third-highest total in the country.
