WATCH: Florida State Takes Lead After Long Touchdown Run From Trey Benson
After what was a slow start to the game, the Florida State Seminoles scored a touchdown towards the end of the first half, and the Florida Gators missed a field goal to give the Seminoles a big opportunity.
With Tate Rodemaker under center, the offense was slow to start the game. This is his first start of the season after taking the reins from an injured Jordan Travis, so it was expected to take some time for the offense to get in rhythm.
Coming out of halftime, the Seminoles got the ball to open the third quarter. They took advantage of it, too, as Trey Benson scored a long touchdown to give the Seminoles their first lead of the game.

With a 14-12 lead, the Seminoles' defense has a big opportunity to help FSU control this game. Benson scored on a 36-yard touchdown run. If he's able to find some rhythm on the ground, things will open up for Rodemaker and the offense.
Benson's play gets wildly more important with the absence of Travis, but Rodemaker not being a dual-threat to the extent of Travis shakes things up, and big plays are less likely to happen.
It'll be interesting to see how the offense continues to look on future drives.
