WATCH: Tate Rodemaker Hits Markeston Douglas For TD On First Pass Of The Season

After Florida State built a huge lead over Southern Miss, Tate Rodemaker replaced Jordan Travis and instantly threw a touchdown pass.

Jordan Travis and the Florida State offense got off to an impressive start to the game, leading Southern Miss 31-3 to end the half. However, a quick touchdown from Trey Benson and a pick-six would quickly build the Seminoles' lead even more.

As Florida State is taking on an inferior opponent, the team is able to play younger guys and backups, leading to Tate Rodemaker taking over under center from Travis.

On his very first snap taken on the night, Rodemaker threw the ball to tight end Markestone Douglas for a 42-yard touchdown.

This is both Rodemaker and Douglas' third touchdown of their respective careers, both having played with Florida State since 2020. It's also both of their first scores of the 2023 season. Given the nature of the Seminoles' schedule and offensive firepower, they might get plenty of opportunities to make big plays for the remainder of the season.

So far, the offense hasn't had to be perfect as playing a less talented team has opened the door to many electric plays. Benson has three touchdowns, Coleman had an electric set of plays before scoring and now Rodemaker and Douglas are on the board.

All in all, the Seminoles are putting points up left and right in this matchup, and it'll continue as they've been quick with their last three touchdowns.
