Former FSU Captain, Star Linebacker Accepts Coaching Job At High School Level
The last couple of years have been quite busy for former Florida State linebacker Lamont Green Sr. as he prepared his son to follow in his footsteps.
The effort paid off as Lamont Green Sr. developed into a four-star defensive end and signed with the Seminoles in December. He enrolled early and went through spring practice with the team to get a headstart on his college career.

That's given the elder Green a little more free time and he's already found a way to fill the gap.
On Friday, Green Sr. announced he was accepting a position at Miami Southridge Senior High School as defensive coordinator. The Spartans went 7-5 and made the playoffs under head coach Pierre Senatus.
This restarts a coaching career for Green Sr., who has previously held roles as the head coach at South Miami Senior High School and assistant head coach at Florida Christian School. He was honored in 2011 for leading South Miami to the playoffs after taking over a program that had won three combined games over the last three seasons.
The Miami native played at Florida State from 1994-98. He became a starter during his final two years with the program, recording a team-high 73 tackles, ten tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles in 1998 as the Seminoles finished as the runner-up to Tennessee. Green Sr. totaled 231 tackles, 22 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, five forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, five pass deflections, two interceptions, and a defensive touchdown in 43 appearances, with 20 starts, in Tallahassee.
Green Sr. returned to Florida State in 2008 as an academic counselor for the football team. He was responsible for coordinating support services for football student-athletes, monitoring their academic progress and counseling them on academic issues such as course and major selection, study habits and eligibility requirements.
