On Monday, four-star cornerback Wardell Mack announced his top four schools. FSU made the cut alongside Texas, Florida, and LSU. He officially visited the Seminoles, Gators, and Longhorns in June.
Mack's trip to Tallahassee last month was his second trip to Florida State's campus this year. He was able to interact with multiple members of the roster who have gone from Louisiana to the Seminoles, including wide receiver Destyn Hill and cornerback Greedy Vance.
"Magnificent. A great weekend," Mack said to NoleGameday previously. "This visit, I got to be around the players and the family of Florida State. I was around Destyn Hill, Greedy Vance, guys like that."
Throughout his recruitment, Mack has been building a relationship with defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr., who was hired by the program earlier this year. The two have already developed a solid connection.
"We family, so we've been locked in since he first got here," Mack said. "We've been locking in, going over plays, watching film together, just overall trying to see what the best fit is for me, why I should be at Florida State, stuff like that."
Though Texas is the perceived favorite at this point in time, don't count out Florida State as Mack moves closer to a decision. He's previously claimed that he wants to make a commitment two to three games into the college season. Mack is hoping to watch the Seminoles take the field against Miami in November.
Florida State already has three defensive backs committed in its class; four-star Ricky Knight III, three-star Rydarrius Morgan, and three-star CJ Heard. The Seminoles remain in the running for five-star Charles Lester II, five-star KJ Bolden, four-star Jamari Howard, and three-star Kevin Levy, among other prospects.
The 5-foot-11, 170-pound cornerback is regarded as the No. 118 overall prospect, the No. 13 CB, and the No. 3 recruit in the state of Louisiana in the 2024 class according to 247Sports.
