FSU Still In Front For Four-Star RB Micahi Danzy With Decision To Come This Summer

The Seminoles are pursuing a versatile athlete to add alongside Kam Davis in the 2024 class.

The Seminoles are recruiting a variety of dual-sport athletes in the 2024 class. Out of the 11 verbal commitments in #Tribe24, four - Kam Davis (football/baseball), Camdon Frier (football/baseball), BJ Gibson (football/baseball), TJ Abrams (football/track) - are expected to begin their college careers as two-sport athletes.

That number could grow in the near future with Florida State's pursuit of four-star running back Micahi Danzy. A local prospect out of Florida State University School, Danzy is a long-striding speedster who can break away on the football field or track.

Danzy and his family made the short trek over to campus this weekend for his official visit. He was able to experience parts of the school that he had never seen before.

It was great. It's very informative," Danzy said to NoleGameday's Dustin Lewis. "I saw stuff I had never seen before. It was very surprising."

A familiar face on Florida State's campus since picking up an offer last summer, most of the new aspects that Danzy saw were connected to academics.

"The museum, of course. I didn't know about that— the educational buildings," Danzy said. "I didn't know that part of FSU before, so that was kind of cool.

The focus on academics stood out to Danzy despite his interests being elsewhere.

"Well, they went deeper into the education side and I really liked it," Danzy said. "I'm not big on education. So I kind of liked it."

The Florida native's primary recruiter is running backs coach David Johnson. The two have developed a solid relationship and Danzy feels comfortable around him.

"I feel good about Coach Yac because he understands high school kids," Danzy said. "During the games, he understands you get nervous but he'll calm down. So that's one thing I like about him."

Danzy's player host was redshirt sophomore running back CJ Campbell. He likes how closely connected the room is with one another.

"I spent time with CJ. He's a very energetic guy," Danzy said. "Coach YAC said they stay as a group anywhere they go and they joke around. It's very calming."

This visit was mainly focused on football but Danzy was able to meet with Florida State's Men's Sprint's coach, Ricky Argo.

Danzy, who was the 2023 FHSAA State Champion in the 200-meter and 400-meter, was recently recognized as the world's 2nd fastest 18U 400 meters runner.

"Just on football, but I did talk to the track coach on the first day," Danzy said. "I was talking to one of the track runners and he was telling me about the track coach."

Prior to departing from campus on Sunday, Danzy sat down with head coach Mike Norvell for a meeting in his office.

"He will not let me fail," Danzy said. "He will always try to make me successful in life past football."

Coming out of the trip, Danzy noted that Florida State remains the favorite in his recruitment. He will announce a commitment this summer but has official visits planned to Miami and Florida in December.

"FSU. It's just I've been here so much and I've learned a lot," Danzy said. "I feel like this will be the right place. When I come here I feel different compared to other schools."

The 6-foot, 165-pound running back is regarded as the No. 232 overall prospect, the No. 19 ATH, and the No. 37 recruit in the state of Florida in the 2024 class.
