Georgia Remains Massive Favorite Over the Florida Gators
The Georgia Bulldogs are coming fresh off of their bye week like they typically do heading into their matchup against the Florida Gators this week. The Bulldogs remained at the top of the polls after week eight and look to continue their flawless streak in 2023 down in Jacksonville against one of their top rivals.
Last week, major news came out of Athens as it was announced that star tight end Brock Bowers would have surgery on his ankle following the Vanderbilt game, which would keep him sidelined for multiple weeks. Despite that, Vegas still sees Georgia as a heavy favorite in this week's game. The line opened with Georgia as a 20.5-point favorite prior to the Bowers news. That line has since trickled down to a consensus spread of 17 points in favor of the Bulldogs, according to VegasInsider. Several betting companies still hold Georgia as a 20-plus point favorite, and Draft Kings has dropped the Bulldogs down to a 14.5-point favorite, the lowest of the bunch.
It was to be expected that the line would move a little bit in Florida's favor after Bowers' surgery, but even with the star tight end out this week, the house doesn't seem to think it will have that much of an impact on the game this weekend.
The last few meetings between these two teams have been anything but competitive, as eight of the last 10 meetings have been decided by at least 15 points or more. The Bulldogs are currently on a two-game win streak against the Gators and will look to extend that number to three following the completion of week nine.
