Brock Bowers Named the John Mackey Tight End of the Week

More honors for the Bulldogs' come in as Brock Bowers gets his first award this season.

Smael Mondon and Peyton Woodring joined Sedrick Van Pran earlier this week by earning their own SEC Player of the Week awards. Mondon's and Woodring's performances helped lead the Bulldogs past the Auburn Tigers 27-20, but the man who earned them this win was tight end, Brock Bowers. After his exceptional second-half performance, Bowers was named the John Mackey Tight End of the Week. 

Bowers' performances in the last two weeks have been nothing short of special.  The Calif. native, in the past two games, has hauled in 17 catches for 278 yards and three touchdowns, which brought his season total from 135 yards and no touchdowns to 413 total yards and his three touchdowns.

This is the first time Bowers has won this award this season, and the third season in a row he has been distinguished a weekly honor from the award. Many more are likely to come for who may be the nation's best football player, regardless of position. 

The Bulldogs will be looking for more honors following this weekend as they take on the No. 20 Kentuck Wildcats (5-0) Saturday night in Athens underneath the red light of Sanford Stadium.
