SEC Names Carson Beck Offensive Player of the Week After Strong Week Six Performance

After dominating the Kentucky Wildcats, Carson Beck and Peyton Woodring have earned SEC honors for the week.

One week after what was almost an upset to an unranked Auburn Tigers team, Carson Beck and the Georgia Bulldogs came back to their home stadium for what was primed to be their toughest matchup of the season, not the then-ranked No. 20 Kentucky Wildcats. The Bulldogs steamrolled over the Wildcats, defeating them 51-13. The taming of the Wildcats was led by none other than the gunslinger Carson Beck, and his strong performance allowed him to be named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week

Beck had one of his strongest games this season, completing 28 of his 35 passes, a career-high in completions that led to 389 yards and four touchdowns through the air. What may be even more impressive from his game this weekend was the historic feats Beck accomplished in becoming the third SEC QB over the last ten years to throw for four touchdowns and complete 85% of his passes against the blitz, joining Bryce Young and Tua Tagovailoa who did it twice. He was also the first QB to do it against an SEC opponent in that period.

Beck was joined by Georgia's placekicker Peyton Woodring in this week's honors. Woodring was named the SEC Co-Freshman Player of the Week for the second week in a row after going 6-for-6 on PATs and 3-for-3 on field-goal attempts. Woodring also had a career-long field goal of 42 yards and a career-high in points with 15 points tallied in the Bulldogs' 51-13 victory.
