Fran Brown Expected to Be Named Syracuse Head Coach
It's arguably the busiest time of year in college football right now. Some teams are preparing for a conference championship game, the transfer portal is starting to ramp up, and programs are searching for new head coaches. Syracuse is one of those programs, as they fired head coach Dino Babers earlier this year, and Georgia defensive backs coach Fran Brown is expected to be named the new head coach at Syracuse.
The news broke Monday evening that Brown was the leading candidate for the Syracuse head coaching job, and now on Tuesday morning, it appears that he will be announced as the head coach of the program sometime soon.
Brown was the defensive backs coach at Rutgers from 2020-2021 prior to hopping on board with Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs. Since his arrival in Athens, Brown played a crucial role not only on the recruiting trail but in defensive game planing and player development. He is also a New Jersey native, so the move to Syracuse would put him a lot closer to his roots compared to Athens.
This has become the usual around the University of Georgia's football program. When the offseason approaches for other teams, staffers for the Bulldogs start getting linked and attached to other jobs around the country. Sometimes they manage to survive the first couple of waves and are able to hold onto their coaches, but fans know it's only a matter of time before they have to stop passing up opportunities. Coach Brown was a hot name in the coaching circuit and helped bring a lot of success to Georgia, and he was certainly a name that people knew it had to only be a matter of time.
