Fran Brown Has Been Hired As Syracuse Football's New Head Coach
As the No. 1 ranked Georgia Bulldogs are prepping for their SEC Championship game against Alabama, there has been lots of news surrounding pieces leaving the program this week. Last night, news broke that UGA defensive back coach Fran Brown was linked to the head coach opening at Syracuse.
It was reported this evening that Fran Brown will indeed be leaving the two-time national champions as he has been hired as Syracuse football's new head coach. The news follows reports of Georgia EDGE Darris Smith possibly entering the transfer portal once it opens.
Brown is a native of New Jersey and likely grew up an Orange fan with the prominence of their basketball program and wants to make their football team just as prominent, having helped lead the Bulldogs to a national title in the 2022 season.
Syracuse is getting one of the nation's best recruiters who has landed multiple talents for the Bulldogs, such as Ellis Robinson IV and Justin Williams, in the 2024 class. It is unsure whether he will stay with the Dawgs through the SEC Championship or start working at Syracuse. Still, either way, this is a great opportunity for the former co-defensive coordinator at Temple.
Kirby Smart and the Dawgs will begin to search for a new DB coach, all while still prepping for the Crimson Tide. Whoever lands the spot will be in a good situation thanks to Brown and his work recruiting that position for Georgia.
