Previewing a Potential Massive Month of Recruiting for Georgia in July
Since the month of May, Georgia's football program has been on a roll in regard to the 2024 recruiting class. Quarterback Dylan Raiola really got things going for the Bulldogs with his verbal commitment back in the middle of the month of May. Since Raiola's pledge, Georgia has gone on and added 10 more players to their already loaded recruiting class, and the month of July is setting up to be a big one for head coach Kirby Smart and his program.
Offensive lineman Michael Uini came off the board at the very end of the month of June as he jumped on board with Georgia, and very well could be just the beginning of a run of offensive linemen for the Bulldogs. Daniel Clahoun (July 5th), Nyier Daniels (July 7th), Marques Easley (July 8th), and Casey Poe (July 12th) are all set to announce their commitments this month, and Georgia is in the mix for every single one of those recruitments. Georgia currently has three offensive linemen committed to their 2024 class, and they will likely step out of the month of July with several more added to the bunch.
Two other names in the class that are expected to come off of the board soon are defensive lineman Joseph Jonah-Ajoyne and linebacker Kristopher Jones. Jonah-Ajoyne was recently on an official visit to the University of Georgia in late June and has his commitment date set for August 1st. As for Jones, he also took an official to Georgia last month and told us at Dawgs Daily that he plans to wrap up his recruitment in late July or early August.
2024 wide receiver Mike Matthews is also a player to keep an eye on during the month of July. The five-star Georgia native is rated as one of the top recruits in the class and took an official visit to Athens in early June. His recruitment looks to be narrowed down to just a few schools with Georgia being one of them and adding him to the class would be huge for the Bulldogs.
With Georgia already having 22 players currently committed in the 2024 class, it is very likely that they could essentially have their upcoming class wrapped up before the 2023 season even starts. It has been an exciting offseason for the Dawgs on the trail, and the month of July is shaping up to produce some promising results as well. There is still a way to go before early national signing day comes up on the calendar, but as it sits right now, Georgia is in tremendous shape to finish with the best class in the cycle.
