What's Next for Georgia After SEC Championship Game?
After a historic run, the Georgia Bulldogs have lost a game for the first time since the 2021 SEC Championship game. The Alabama Crimson Tide took down the Bulldogs in this year's conference championship game by a final score of 27-24.
Georgia had a chance late in the game to get a stop on defense to get the offense the ball back for a game-winning or tying drive, but Jalen Milroe and the Crimson Tide did enough to seal the game away. So now that we know the result of the SEC Championship game, what is next for the Bulldogs?
While Kirby Smart and his football team only have one loss, it is unlikely that they will be selected as one of the final four teams. That means that will be in contention for a New Year's Six that is not the Sugar Bowl or the Rose Bowl with those two venues being in the playoff this year. One of the bowl games that does seem like a likely destination is the Orange Bowl.
Georgia played in the Orange Bowl not too long ago against Michigan in the 2021 college football playoffs. They handled the Wolverines and it sent them on their way to eventually winning the national title that season against Alabama.
It's an unfortunate ending for such a great run for the Bulldogs after making the playoffs for two straight seasons and looking like they were going to make a third. Bowl game selections will begin to be announced shortly after the college football playoff rankings are determined.
