Georgia vs Georgia Tech - Three Bold Predictions for the Matchup

Three bold predictions for Georgia's final game of the regular season against their in-state rival Georgia Tech.
In this story:

Rivalry week has officially arrived, which also means the last week of the regular season has also arrived. Georgia and Georgia Tech will face off once again to close out the regular season, and while the Bulldogs have dominated this rivalry as of late, there is still no lack of hatred between these two teams.

Georgia was pinned as the overwhelming favorite earlier in the week, as expected, but this is a much improved Georgia Tech team under head coach Brent Key compared to the product that Georgia Tech was rolling out onto the field in previous seasons. So as we approach the in-state rivalry game on Saturday, here are three bold predictions for Georgia.

Brock Bowers Takes Over

Fans have enjoyed seeing their star tight end back on the field since the Ole Miss game after having tight rope surgery, and Saturday will be his first monster game since coming back on to the field. Brock Bowers had a solid game last week against Tennessee, and he will carry that momentum into this weekend against Georgia Tech.

This wouldn't be the first time that Bowers dominated Georgia Tech either. In 2021, Bowers reeled in three receptions for 100 receiving yards and two touchdowns to close out the regular season. Don't expect Bowers to play the whole game as the Bulldogs will look to start resting players for the SEC Championship game if they get a solid lead against Georgia Tech, but for the snaps that he will be in for, Bowers will have a massive impact.

Georgia Goes for 50

The Yellow Jackets are much improved on offense this season compared to previous seasons, but they are still struggling on the defensive side of the football. In games where the Bulldogs have gone up against an inferior defense, we have seen Mike Bobo and the offense take advantage of it, and that's what will happen on Saturday. Quarterback Carson Beck is playing some of the best football in the entire country as of late, and the Bulldogs have been getting all of their weapons involved on offense.

I think Georgia will take advantage of an opportunity to really impress the college football playoff committee one last time in the regular season, and will put up a load of points against Georgia Tech. Plus, if there is one thing we know about head coach Kirby Smart, it's that he hates Georgia Tech.

Special Teams Strike

It's been a while since Georgia has had an electric returner back receiving kicks and they certainly have one in Mekhi Mews this season. He took one to the house earlier in the season. The Yellow Jackets have not allowed a punt or kick return go for a touchdown all season, but that streak will come to an end on Saturday. If Georgia is going to hang 50 points on Georgia Tech, they are going to need some quick scores, and what better way to do that than by taking a kick return to the crib?
