How Did Georgia Flip Five-Star KJ Bolden From Florida State?
Perhaps the biggest news on early national signing day recently just broke as five-star safety KJ Bolden announced he was flipping his commitment from Florida State to Georgia. The Buford, Georgia native had committed to the Seminoles not too long ago and now has decided to stay in-state on early national signing day. So how did Georgia manage to do this?
First and foremost, Georgia recently just took their own loss on the recruiting trail as five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola decided to flip his commitment from Georgia to Nebraska. That not only opened up another spot in the class but also allowed Georgia to allocate resources elsewhere to make a final push on a player like Bolden.
This is also a recruitment that Georgia has remained in the mix for. Florida State, Georgia and Auburn were the three schools that remained linked to Bolden, even after he announced his commitment. Over the last four months, Kirby Smart and his staff remained in touch with Bolden and managed to keep their names towards the top, and on early national signing day, those efforts and relationships paid off in a big way.
The addition of Bolden bolsters Georgia's class to an even higher ranking than they were already at with the top class in the nation. Bolden is everything he is advertised to be as a prospect and will join a defensive back room that is loaded down with talent, and he will be a major contributor to that. Perhaps the biggest win of early national signing day amongst all college programs.
