Broderick Jones Impressive In First Career NFL Start
During the 2023 NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers, like the Philadelphia Eagles, selected multiple Georgia Bulldogs to help improve their team. One of these players included their first-round selection offensive tackle Broderick Jones. Jones got his first career start this past weekend against the Baltimore Ravens and was impressive in the passing game to help them win 17-10.
Jones had 37 pass block reps against a stout Ravens defense with 18 sacks following their game. On those 37 reps, Jones allowed just one singular pressure, none more. Thus far, he hasn't given up a sack on the 160+ snaps played for the Steelers this season, and in the preseason, he gave up one sack and six total pressures.
One of Jones' most impressive plays from this past weekend came on the game-winning touchdown that saw QB Kenny Pickett connecting with former Georgia WR George Pickens. On the play, the Ravens sent a 6-man rush, where Jones swiped the defender's hands away before he could contact Jones and made him lose his footing and fall to the turf.
Every week, a former Georgia Bulldog is tearing up the field in the NFL and being the difference in the game to help their team win. This week, Broderick Jones did that for the Steelers. He will be back on the field for the AFC North-leading team as they head to Los Angeles to take on the Rams after the Bulldogs play their game in Nashville, TN against the Vanderbilt Commodores.
