Stetson Bennet At Ole Miss v. Georgia to Be Awarded Burlsworth Trophy
With all the news surrounding what is happening in Athens, GA, for Ole Miss v. Georgia. The Dawgs have brought back plenty of former alumni to support them this weekend. ESPN Colege Gameday had Nolan Smith, but during the game, the two-time national champion quarterback, Stetson Bennett, will be awarded the Burlsworth trophy.
The Burlsworth Trophy is awarded to the best college football player who began their career as a walk-on player. Bennett exemplifies the qualities of this award tremendously, as he started as a walk-on for Georgia, transferred to a JUCO, came back, and led the Dawgs to their first national titles since the 1980s.
Due to what Bennett was able to accomplish in the 2021 and 2022 seasons for the Georgia Bulldogs, he was named the Burlsworth Award winner for the 2022 season. He returns to Athens tonight to be recognized along with his former teammates on their Senior Night.
With Missouri currently handling the Tennessee Volunteers, they clinch the SEC East. Brock Bowers and Amarius Mims have both made their returns to the lineup tonight to help Georgia against the Rebels.
