Where Will DL Eddrick Houston Commit To?
The college athlete production company, Buford High School, has yet another 5-star coming off the board today. Defensive lineman Eddrick Houston announces his commitment today, and the DL is down to Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State, and USC.
Houston stands at 6' 3" and weighs in at about 265 pounds, and is rated as the fourth-best defensive lineman for the 2024 class, sixth-best player in Georgia, and the 23rd-best player for the 2024 class, according to 247Sports composite rankings.
On Buford's defensive side of the ball, Houston can play with Florida State commit KJ Bolden and 2025 UGA commit Jadon Perlotte while also being a teammate of Georgia commit Dylan Raiola. He was in Athens in early June and surely had plenty of people from his camp in his ear about going to Georgia, but Kirby Smart's Dawgs aren't the front runners in Houston's recruitment.
With all their family ties to KJ Bolden, Ohio State couldn't land the touted athlete and steal him from Georgia and FSU. The Buckeyes are looking to land someone big, and that player is Houston. Houston has gone on record to say that OSU DL coach Larry Johnson has played a pivotal role in his recruitment, especially with the players he has been able to put into the NFL, like the Bosa brothers and Chase Young.
Houston took his last visit of the season to Alabama, who are always looking to pick from the creme of the crop out of Georgia. One of Georgia's longest-standing commits in safety, Peyton Woodyard, recently flipped his commitment to Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide. Saban will want to steal another recruit from Georgia before the 2024 recruiting class ends.
Though the Tigers and Trojans play a factor in the defensive end's recruitment and are worthy of a commitment from Houston, the three schools above likely hold a higher position.
Houston is committing this evening around 6:50 p.m. on 247Sports' YouTube channel. The Buckeyes will likely be the winners in this recruitment.
