Preview: Georgia Tech Baseball Travels To No.14 Boston College

Can Georgia Tech win a series on the road against a top 15 team?

The best way for a team to move on from a frustrating loss in 14 innings is to be able to win a series against a top team in the conference. That is what Georgia Tech is going to be looking to do this weekend as they hit the road to take on Boston College, who is No. 14 in the latest rankings from D1baseball.

The Eagles come into this game 18-4 and have been one of the biggest surprises around the country. They were picked to be near the bottom of the ACC standings this season, but they find themselves in the thick of the conference race as one of the best teams. They also have a signature win on the road against Tennessee, who is also a top-ten team.

They are not unbeatable though. BC is only 12th in the ACC in batting average and has only the 9th-best ERA in the conference (5.03). Tech is going to have to work for it, but they can win this series.

The pitching for the Yellow Jackets is still among the worst in the ACC and the country. Luke Schmolke is set to get the start on Friday, with Jackson Finley slated to be on the mound on Saturday. A starter for Sunday has not been announced yet.

Game one has been moved up to 12"00 p.m. tomorrow, game two will be at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, and the series will wrap up on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

Boston College is going to be starting Henry Leake on Friday (3-1, 3.09 ERA), Chris Flynn (5-1, 1.80 ERA), and John West on Sunday (1-1, 6.98 ERA).
