Georgia Tech is back in the ACC Tournament picture after their series win

Georgia Tech Baseball got a big boost to their odds to make the ACC Tournament this weekend with a series win over Pitt. Entering the weekend series, the Yellow Jackets were not in the ACC Tournament field but taking two of three from the Panthers was huge.

The work is far from over though. Georgia Tech needs to keep winning games to keep from falling out of the ACC Tournament field and to keep their hopes of an NCAA Tournament birth alive.

The team the Yellow Jackets have to face this weekend is none other than the team leading the ACC Coastal, the Duke Blue Devils (14-9, 32-13). Duke just won a series against Virginia and has been one of the most consistent teams in the ACC. Georgia Tech will have a big challenge on its hands.

The rest of the Coastal Division is pretty tight, even at the top. Miami (14-10, 31-16) is coming off a sweep against Presbyterian and the Hurricanes face Pitt this weekend. Virginia (13-11, 37-11), North Carolina (11-11, 29-17), and Virginia Tech (11-12, 28-16) are right behind Miami and Duke. UVA faces Louisville this weekend, North Carolina takes on in-state rival NC State, and Virginia Tech faces Clemson.

On the other side of the conference, Wake Forest (18-5, 39-7) is still in first place in the Atlantic, but they were challenged by Boston College over the weekend. Clemson (14-10, 31-17) has now jumped to second place in the Atlantic, and Boston College (14-13, 30-16), Notre Dame (14-13, 26-19), and NC State (10-13, 31-15) are right behind the Tigers. Louisville (9-15, 29-18) and Florida State (6-18, 18-28) are at the bottom of the division and currently out of the ACC Tournament picture.

Louisville vs Virginia, Duke vs Georgia Tech, and NC State and North Carolina are the marquee series this weekend in the ACC.
