Former Georgia Tech Guard Deivon Smith Commits To Utah
Former Georgia Tech guard Deivon Smith has found his new home.
Smith announced on social media today that he is committed to playing at Utah.
From a statistical perspective, per ESPN, he led the team in assists with 3.7. Even though he only started 13 games (four against ACC teams), he ranked second in the conference with 5.6 rebounds per game and third in assist-turnover ratio (2.78-to-1).
Guard Tristan Maxwell, center Cyril Martynov, forward Freds Pauls Bagatskis, forward Jordan Meka, and center Rodney Howard have all entered the transfer portal as well. Howard and Smith have been contributors over the past couple of seasons, but the others had small roles.
Guard Miles Kelly, the Yellow Jackets leading scorer last season, declared for the NBA Draft, but is maintaining his collegiate eligibility and could return.
On the flip side, Georgia Tech has the 14th-rated transfer portal class according to 247Sports.
Kowacie Reeves (Florida), Ebenezer Dowuona (NC State), Tyzhaun Claude (Western Carolina), Tafara Gapare (UMass), Amaree Abram (Ole Miss), and Jalen Forrest (Presbyterian) are the transfers joining the program this offseason.
Best of luck to Deivon at Utah!
