Damon Stoudamire Talks Georgia Tech On Jim Rome Show
Damon Stoudamire has been on the job as Georgia Tech's head basketball coach, but he has plenty of people excited about what could be in store in the future for the Yellow Jackets program.
Stoudamire hopped on the Jim Rome show yesterday to talk Georgia Tech and one thing that stood out was how he wanted to make Georgia Tech Atlanta's team again:
"I was saying it yesterday in an interview, to me, Georgia Tech was more popular than the Atlanta Hawks. You know, when Georgia Tech is really good, it is the city's team. You can go back to Mark Price and those teams, Mark Price, Dalrymple, Duane Ferrell, John Salley and those really good teams and that just bled into Kenny (Anderson) and those guys took it to a whole other level. But man you know, Georgia Tech Basketball is always just synonymous with winning and you know I feel like it should not be any different now."
Stoudamire is hoping to restore Georgia Tech basketball to winning and he has had a busy first couple of weeks on the job. He is going to be looking for a brand-new coaching staff after not retaining any assistants and he is already in contact with some of the top players in the transfer portal.
Pitt transfer John Hugley and Florida transfer Kowacie Reeves are set to visit Atlanta in the coming days and they are two of the best players available in the transfer portal. For Tech to return to winning like Stoudamire talks about, landing key transfers and recruiting well in the city of Atlanta and the state of Georgia are going to be vital.
