Preview: Georgia Tech Baseball vs Clemson

Can Georgia Tech defeat Clemson in the upcoming ACC series?

After dropping their first ACC series of the year against Louisville last week, Georgia Tech is looking to stay in the top half of the ACC Coastal when they take on Clemson this weekend.

Clemson sits at the bottom of the ACC Atlantic standings and has had an uneven season. The Tigers lost their series to Duke last weekend in their first ACC series of the year and have struggled in other series as well.

Georgia Tech has run into its own set of issues however and they are familiar to any fan or someone that watches college baseball. The Yellow Jackets' pitching has been the worst in the ACC with a 6.53 ERA, costing them in almost every matchup. Sure, Tech left plenty of runners on base against Wofford, including the bases loaded down three runs in the ninth, but giving up eight runs in the game and four in the first two innings is not how this team is going to make a deep run this year. Georgia Tech has given up 152 runs this season and the next closest team is Florida State with 130.

There is still time to turn things around this year though. Clemson is not one of the better hitting teams in the ACC, as they rank 11th in batting average and 14th in home runs.

Dawson Brown has been the Yellow Jackets Friday starter this year and he will get the start again this Friday. Luke Schomolke is the starter for Saturday's game and Jackson Finley will close things out on Sunday.

Austin Gordon (0-1, 5.84 ERA) is starting for Clemson on Friday, Tristan Smith (0-0, 3.86 ERA) on Saturday, and Caden Grice (0-0, 4.00 ERA) will get the Sunday start for the Tigers.

Georgia Tech holds the advantage behind the plate, but the Tigers hold the advantage on the mound.
