Preview: Georgia Tech Baseball vs Wofford
Georgia Tech had a chance to win a series against one of the best teams in the ACC, but some familiar mistakes cost them against Louisville this past weekend.
Pitching woes were there in game one and game three and it cost them more in the first game, with closer Terry Busse having his worst game of the season and giving up late runs after the Yellow Jackets retook the lead. GT gave up nine runs in yesterday's game and still sits dead last in the ACC in ERA (6.46).
Now comes a game against a pretty good Wofford team.
Wofford comes into this game with a 14-5 record. Georgia Tech and the Terriers have only faced off nine times since the teams first met in 1904. Tech owns a 9-0 record after last playing Wofford in 2007 (Per Georgia Tech PR).
There is some good news for the Yellow Jackets' pitching though. After making an appearance this weekend, Camron Hill is slated to be the probable starting pitcher for Georgia Tech. Hill is one of the most talented pitchers that Georgia Tech has and he could provide an answer if he is able to stay healthy.
The offense has remained strong for Georgia Tech over the last week and against a team that has an ERA of 4.94, I expect Tech to score some runs. • Players that had a good wee at the plate were veterans Stephen Reid (.500), Jake DeLeo (.476). Jadyn Jackson (.364) and Jack Rubenstein (.364), while also getting strong outings from youngsters like Kristian Campbell (.375) (Per Georgia Tech PR).
The probable starting pitcher for Wofford is RHP Coulson Buchanan (So., 2-1, 4.61 ERA).
First pitch is set for tomorrow at 6:00 p.m.
