Everything From Ja'von Franklin And Kyle Sturdivant After Win Over Louisville
Georgia Tech has been playing better in recent weeks and continued that today by defeating Louisville 83-67. Two of the key players from today's game were Ja'von Franklin, who had 21 points and 13 rebounds, and Kyle Sturdivant, who had 11 points and 10 assists. Both double-doubles propelled the Yellow Jackets to their fourth ACC win and both players spoke with the media after today's win.
Here is what they had to say.
1. On what went out into Sturdivant's game today...
(Sturdivant): "First, I want to credit my teammates. You can't get an assist without your teammates hitting baskets so I give a lot of credit to them. I just wanted to be aggressive and make Louisville make decisions.
2. On what helped bring the energy today...
(Franklin): "We have been playing well for the last couple of games, moving the ball well and everybody making shots and it was just a team effort."
3. On what enfolded after Louisville cut the lead to five...
(Sturdivant): "I don't remember if the play was for me, but I remember we needed a big bucket so I just wanted to give my team the best shot, I wanted to get to the rim, they defended that really well and cut that off so I just posted it."
4. On if the first basket of the game gave Franklin confidence...
(Franklin): "Yeah it gave me confidence to get the offensive and defensive rebounds so that stickback right there kinda got me going.
5. On how the minutes they are playing is not affecting them...
(Sturdivant) "I think We have been working our butts off and I always said we were going to get better as the season went on and the conditioning has gotten better as well and the mentality we have of being tough."
(Franklin): "We did a lot of running and that is something that stood out as we got deeper in this run and that is something that we have emphasized, to outlast people and I think that is showing in these games."
6. On how much senior night was a motivation for Franklin...
(Franklin) "I just wanted to go out with a win on my last time and get my teammates a win and it was a lot of fun to play on the homecourt with them one last time and the job is not finished. We have two games left and we want to finish the season strong and go in with confidence to Greensboro."
7. On if they anticipated hitting eight three-pointers in the first half...
(Sturdivant): "We wanted to push the pace and see what we could get early on offense and we got enough stops in transition and I already know when we get into transition, we are a hard team to beat."
8. On playing better, but the record not being where they want it...
(Sturdivant): "I always say its two seasons, a regular season and a postseason and you know when March comes and the ACC Tournament is 0-0 so I want to be playing my best basketball right now and we are playing our best basketball right now and that is the most important part and keep taking it day-by-day."
